On Thursday, the Cleveland Cavaliers player shared a touching tribute to Kardashian in a series of posts on his Instagram Stories in honor of the reality TV star’s 40th birthday on June 27.
He praised her as the “best mom” in one post and called her the “most amazing human being” in another, while a third included a photo of the former couple with their 6-year-old daughter, True, and Kardashian’s 7-year-old niece, Dream.
“You are my best friend,” he wrote in a text overlay on the post. The couple also have a son, Tatum, who is almost 2 years old.
Thompson and Kardashian’s past on-off relationship has been a hot topic over the years due to the NBA player’s numerous cheating scandals.
In 2022, while he was still dating Kardashian, he publicly acknowledged that he fathered a child with model Mallee Nichols.
The couple welcomed a baby boy named Theo into the world in December 2021. Thompson also has a 7-year-old son, Prince, with ex-husband Jordan Craig.

Kardashian spoke about the current state of her relationship with Thompson in the premiere episode of Season 5 of “Keeping Up With the Kardashians,” her family’s reality show, which airs on Hulu.
The Good American co-founder said in a confessional interview on the show that the past decade of his life had been “heavy” but that he would feel “relief” with Thompson moving to Cleveland (Thompson signed with the team last year and returned to play for the Cavaliers).
“I need space, no matter who it is,” she tells the camera.
Meanwhile, Thompson was filmed getting cosy with Kardashian and joked that the former couple should build a “tunnel” or “overpass” connecting their respective homes in Los Angeles so they can live as “one big happy family.”
“Sometimes I hate how much I have to think and be on guard to not do anything that might be a silver lining,” Kardashian later confessed, referring to her relationship with Thompson.
