Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Stalin on Saturday announced that the benefits of a new health insurance scheme for state government employees will be extended to their dependent parents as well.
During a debate in the Assembly on the demand for grant-in-aid for police and fire and rescue services departments, Stalin said state government employees of various departments, including police, have requested the state government to include their dependent parents among the beneficiaries of the new health insurance scheme. Taking into consideration their demand, the government would restructure the new health insurance scheme.
The Chief Minister also announced setting up of new police stations at Padappai, Thiruparankundaram Temple and Adamangalampudur, women’s police stations at Kolathur, Kelambakkam and Red Hills, new traffic police stations at Kirambakkam and Yerukad. He also announced setting up of social justice and human rights units at Avadi and Tambaram police stations and construction of a new building at Tambaram police station.
Stalin also said new fire stations would be set up in Erar, Karumathanpattu, Madathukulam, Kovalam, Padappai, Tirunelveli city and Pudvoyal.Other announcements made by the Chief Minister included an increase in compensation to police personnel who are killed, seriously injured, suffer fractures, lose eyesight or lose limbs in the line of duty, setting up of new police stations and fire stations in various districts and preparation of a vision document to ensure safety of women in Chennai city.
