From helmets to hard hats, Canada
TORONTO, June 20, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Woodbine Entertainment and Helmet to Hard Hat Canada (H2H) are pleased to announce a new partnership for the 2024 King’s Plate, which will be held on August 17th at Woodbine Race Track.
The partnership recognises H2H as the official construction trade union veterans liaison for the 165th King’s Plate and will include Canadian veterans in attendance at the opening ceremony.
“Woodbine is proud to support Helmet to Hard Hat and its worthy cause,” said Michael Copeland, CEO of Woodbine Entertainment. “We can’t think of a better way to show our appreciation for our military members than to see them succeed in life after years of hard work and sacrifice.”
H2H’s mission is to help veterans, reservists, senior cadets, military families and Afghanistan interpreters find meaningful second careers in the unionized construction industry. They accomplish this by simplifying and expediting the process of entering a skilled trade by helping clients access apprenticeship opportunities with one of Canada’s 14 construction trade unions or by providing direct employment with certified employers.
“We are excited to partner with Woodbine Entertainment to further our mission of providing meaningful career opportunities for veterans in Canada’s unionized construction trades,” said James Hogarth, executive director of Helmets to Hard Hats Canada. “Through this partnership, we aim to raise awareness of our organization and our service to the military community, and showcase the wealth of career possibilities available within the unionized construction industry. With the added value brought by veterans, together we will pave the way for a brighter future in the construction industry.”
Founded in 1860, the King’s Plate is the longest continuously running stakes race in North America and the richest horse race in Canada.
